Eight suspects have been arrested by the Bono Regional Police command for allegedly attempting to initiate a victim into internet fraud. The suspects were inflicting multiple marks of assault on the victim to seal his initiation when police intervened. According to a statement signed by Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, the Public Relations Officer of the Bono Regional Police administration, the suspects were involved in fraudulent acts. They were arrested on October 4, 2026, after a distress call reported that a group was attacking the victim. Police found the victim with multiple assault marks. During interrogation, the suspects admitted to beating the victim as part of the initiation process into internet fraud, a practice they claimed to have also undergone. Preliminary investigations suggest the suspects were brought from Nigeria by a chairman identified as Nwachukwu King Augustine. The statement indicated that the suspects lure victims using downloaded images of foreign military men and engage in conversations, claiming to be at war. After collecting money from victims, it is paid into their chairman's account.
