The Bank of Ghana (BoG) will conduct thematic reviews of banks' compliance with its revised Cyber and Information Security Directive, according to the Bank of Ghana. This action comes amid rising concerns about digital fraud, cyber threats, and other risks linked to digital financial services. The Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Johnson Pandit Asiama, stated that cybersecurity, data protection, cloud computing, third-party dependencies, and operational resilience are areas receiving increased supervisory focus. He announced these planned reviews at the 43rd Annual General Meeting of the Ghana Association of Banks in Accra. Dr Asiama urged bank boards and senior management to consider cybersecurity and operational resilience as fundamental business risks, not just technological concerns. The reviews are part of the Bank's wider supervisory efforts to enhance the resilience of financial institutions as digitalisation transforms the banking sector.
