Emmanuel Kofi Dawu, a 28-year-old importer, has been remanded by a court over allegations of defrauding a businessman of GH¢124,400. According to the prosecution, Dawu allegedly collected the money from the complainant, Emmanuel Eharu, under the pretext of importing various items, including vehicles and motorbikes. Dawu pleaded not guilty to five counts of defrauding by false pretences. The court ordered his remand into police custody until October 9, 2026. The prosecution stated that after receiving the funds, Dawu failed to deliver the goods and subsequently avoided the complainant, relocating from his residence. The matter was reported to the CID Headquarters, leading to Dawu's arrest at Sowutuom. In his caution statement, Dawu reportedly admitted the offence, citing difficulties with foreign associates. He was subsequently charged and arraigned before the court, led by DSP Emmanuel Nyamekye.
