Community members in Ningo-Prampram have called on the Inspector General of Police to investigate police officers in the area. They allege that complaints of assault, death threats, and murder are being referred to families for settlement instead of being investigated. According to the acting head of the Ashaley Botwe family, Mr Eric Tetteh Anum, these allegations include the reported death of an okada rider, Timothy Teye Otubua, in July. Mr Otubua was allegedly beaten by land guards before being found dead. Mr Anum stated that although the incident was reported to the Prampram Police Station and the CID, no action has been taken. He also alleged that other okada riders who inquired about the death were attacked, with six riders reportedly losing their lives since the initial incident. Mr Anum demanded answers regarding alleged assaults involving specific individuals and insisted that traditional settlements should not replace official investigations into serious crimes.
