The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has invited the management of Jamila Home, an antique showroom in Accra, to assist investigations into an alleged assault on one of its officers during a compliance operation. According to the GRA, management denied officials entry into the premises on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, leading to a confrontation where an officer was allegedly assaulted and their phone damaged. An Assistant Commissioner at the GRA stated that officers encountered resistance when attempting to enter the premises. The GRA has taken records from the business for examination and noted that assaulting a revenue officer is a criminal offence. The police will determine the next steps after taking statements. An Economic Advisor for Jamila Home stated that the showroom has specific access protocols and that the officer arrived when the relevant official was unavailable. He added that the company has been filing and paying its taxes and is prepared to work with the GRA.
