Alexander Kwaku Asafo-Agyei, Director-General of the Ghana Scholarships Authority, is the subject of an unverified sexual misconduct claim circulating on social media since 4 November 2026.

The post alleges that two women seeking scholarships were told to meet him at a private residence and that sexual contact with one applicant preceded award letters. It claims to draw from a petition to the Office of the Special Prosecutor. The petition, any receipt by the OSP, the alleged award letters and the applicants' accounts have not been independently authenticated.

No official finding against Asafo-Agyei on these claims has been established, and no verified response from him addressing the new allegation was found. He remains presumed innocent.

The claim renews scrutiny of an institution that spent GH¢237.5 million in 2019 and GH¢200 million in 2020 on scholarships, and that has a GH¢250 million allocation in the 2026 budget. The OSP has been investigating suspected corruption at the former Scholarships Secretariat since July 2023, before Asafo-Agyei's appointment in January 2025.
