The Narcotics Control Commission has destroyed narcotic substances valued at more than US$10 million at Bundase in the Greater Accra Region.

The consignment included 4,730,100 synthetic opioid tablets and capsules worth about US$5.9 million, 338,000 bottles of codeine-based cough mixture worth about US$4.2 million, and 564.39 kilogrammes of cannabis valued at about US$112,878.

The Ghana Standards Authority tested samples before the destruction and confirmed cannabis among the substances destroyed.

NACOC Director-General Major General Maxwell Obuba Mantey urged the public to report suspicious movements and share information with the Commission rather than leave the fight against trafficking to NACOC alone.
