An Accra High Court has dismissed an application by former presidential staffer Charles Bissue seeking to throw out nine corruption and abuse of office charges brought against him by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
According to The High Street Journal, Mr Bissue is standing trial with Raphael Mensah and Dr Naa Dedei Tagoe over allegations of corruption and illegal mining-related concessions.
He had asked the court to dismiss the case on three grounds: that an earlier case against him was still pending, that a previous police investigation had cleared him, and that the OSP lacked power to investigate matters not referred to it by the police.
The court examined official records dated 3 July 2025, which showed the earlier matter had been withdrawn and struck out. His counsel, Augustine Obour, said he could not recall appearing on that date, but the judge ruled that this could not override the court record.
Chale News, citing GhanaWeb, reported that the court described all three grounds as frivolous.
No date for the next hearing was reported. The three accused remain presumed innocent until proven guilty.
