According to MyJoy News, Killian Donkor, the Municipal Chief Executive for Kpando, held a meeting with commercial motorcycle riders, police representatives, and assembly officials to discuss a new digital traffic enforcement system. The initiative, introduced by the Ghana Police Service, utilizes cameras and digital technology to detect traffic violations such as speeding, jumping lights, and riding without helmets. Offences will be automatically recorded and penalty notices sent via SMS to the registered owner of the motorcycle. Mr. Donkor stated that cameras are already installed at locations including Bishop Herman Junction, the Commercial Bank area, and the Margaret Marquart Catholic Hospital Junction. He warned that failure to pay fines could lead to sanctions, including the denial of services at the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority. The Kpando Divisional Police Commander indicated that public education will continue before the system is fully implemented to ensure road users understand the new procedures.
