Fifteen inmates at the Koforidua Prisons have been granted bail. This happened during an in-prison court session on Wednesday, March 4.

The Justice For All Programme facilitated this court sitting. It aims to review cases of inmates who may have no legal representation or whose cases have been delayed.

A total of 31 cases were presented before the court. These included applications for bail and reviews of ongoing sentences.

Of the 31 cases heard, four inmates were convicted. Their sentences were finalized by the court.

Two inmates were referred for psychiatric evaluation. Their mental health status will be assessed before further legal proceedings.

Two bail applications were denied by the court. The judges determined there was insufficient reason to grant bail in these instances.

Five cases were struck out. This means these cases will not proceed further at this time.

The Justice For All Programme continues its work to decongest prisons and ensure fair legal processes for all inmates across Ghana.
