According to Citi Newsroom, the Attorney-General is challenging a ruling by the Court of Appeal which ordered a stay of proceedings in the trial of the former National Food Buffer Stock Company CEO, Hanan Abdul-Wahab, and his wife, Faiza Seidu Wuni. The Court of Appeal panel, presided over by Justice Noble Nkrumah with Justices Lydia Osei Marfo and George Boadi, had previously upheld an application that cited exceptional circumstances regarding the case. The court noted the significance of the charge sheet in criminal proceedings and the necessity of addressing challenges to it promptly. The Attorney-General has expressed dissatisfaction with this decision, arguing that the Court of Appeal erred in its determination that a challenge to a charge sheet qualifies as an exceptional circumstance. The prosecution is seeking to have the ruling quashed and is requesting an order for the High Court to continue with the trial.
