John Darko, the Suame Member of Parliament, has denied any participation in a post-judgment settlement between SIC Savings and Loans and Equity Savings and Loans. He stated that he played no role in any alleged scheme to prevent SIC from receiving the benefits of court awards. This denial follows his appearance before Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) investigators on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, to aid in the ongoing probe. According to a press statement from his lawyers, the questioning focused on his capacity as legal counsel for Equity during its legal dispute with SIC over an unpaid investment and his tenure on Equity’s board from 2015 to 2023. The lawyers clarified that their firm's involvement was confined to the litigation and the recovery of some judgment awards for SIC. They asserted that the firm had no part in any subsequent settlement between the companies and was unaware of Equity's decision to sell land under judicial attachment to a third party. The statement indicated that their firm had stopped providing legal services to Equity due to non-payment before these post-judgment events. It also stressed that Darko had left Equity’s board by September 2023 and was not involved in any decision to compromise a court judgment, maintaining he was not part of any conspiracy to deprive SIC of its judicial awards. The lawyers stated that Darko is cooperating with EOCO's investigations and is ready to offer further assistance regarding his role and that of his firm.
