Minister Mahama Ayariga, accompanied by the Ashanti Regional Minister and the Mayor of Kumasi, assessed the damage caused by a fire that occurred last Friday night. The fire destroyed approximately 15 shops and stores. According to the Minister, the delay in the market's redevelopment project may have contributed to the incident. He advised shop occupants to ensure proper maintenance of their wiring systems and use quality electrical materials. The Metro Fire Officer indicated that unreliable power supply, outages, and failure to switch off electrical gadgets are suspected causes. The Ashanti Regional Minister stated that NADMO will compile a list of affected persons to determine the necessary support. Traders were urged to be vigilant and switch off all electrical appliances before leaving the market.
