The Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, has pleaded not guilty to three charges before the High Court. The charges include intentionally causing financial loss to the public purse amounting to over GH¢9 million, conspiracy, and money laundering. According to the prosecution, the 44-year-old legal practitioner allegedly conspired with the Managing Director of SIC Life Savings and Loans in 2020. He is also accused of transferring GH¢1 million, knowing it was proceeds of crime. The Deputy Attorney-General is presenting the facts of the case to the court, presided over by Justice Charity Akosua Asem. The MP's lawyer is expected to move an application for bail.
