The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), in collaboration with other state institutions, has disposed of a 40-foot container of diapers imported from Spain. The exercise took place at the Vigour Safe Disposal Site at Shai Hills. The shipment, which contained loose diapers stored in bales under unhygienic conditions, was intercepted during a joint inspection at the Tema Port by the FDA, the Ghana Revenue Authority's Customs Division, and National Security. The FDA determined the products did not meet required standards and ensured their safe disposal to prevent them from reaching consumers. According to the FDA, the importer is responsible for disposal expenses and statutory fines. The Authority urged importers to ensure their goods comply with regulatory standards and obtain necessary FDA authorization before shipping products into Ghana.
