The prosecution is urging the High Court to reject a "no case" submission made by former National Signals Bureau Director-General Kwabena Adu-Boahene, his wife Angela Adjei Boateng, and their company, Advantage Solutions Limited. According to the prosecution, evidence presented suggests that GH¢49.1 million, intended for the Bureau of National Communications, was diverted to a private account and spent on the accused, their families, and associates. Adu-Boahene and Boateng face charges including stealing, conspiracy to steal, defrauding by false pretenses, willfully causing financial loss to the state, using public office for profit, obtaining public property by false statements, and money laundering. The prosecution argues that the evidence warrants the accused opening their defense. The funds were allegedly deposited into an account associated with a private company, BNC Communications Limited, Operations, which the prosecution claims was owned and controlled by the accused. A key aspect involves the alleged purchase of a cyber defense system, with the prosecution stating the National Signals Bureau denies a contract with the supplier and that financial records do not support the transaction as described by the accused. The prosecution also alleges the GH¢49.1 million was spent on the accused and their connections, significantly reducing the account balance. The accused were arraigned on April 30, 2025.
