The Attorney-General is asking the Accra High Court to reject a no-case submission made by Mr Kwabena Adu-Boahene, former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau, and his co-accused. According to the Attorney-General, the prosecution has presented sufficient evidence to establish a prima facie case against the accused persons. The defence had argued that the prosecution failed to prove its case, citing missing witnesses and alleged gaps in evidence, including bank statements. The State alleges that Mr Adu-Boahene, his wife Angela Adjei-Boateng, and their company, Advantage Solutions Limited, dishonestly took GH¢49.1 million intended for a cyber-defence system. The prosecution claims three cheques totalling GH¢49.1 million were diverted from a National Security account, with only US$1.75 million paid to a foreign company. The remaining funds were allegedly channelled into private businesses and investments. The charges include stealing, conspiracy to steal, causing financial loss to the State, using public office for profit, and money laundering. The Attorney-General contends that the death of a key witness does not invalidate the documentary evidence presented. The court is expected to rule on the application after the defence files its response.
