Joseph Owusu, a 24-year-old Ghanaian, has been found dead at a dumpsite in the Bronx, New York, nearly two weeks after he was reported missing.
A scrap collector found his body among discarded waste. News of the discovery emerged on Tuesday, 3 November 2026.
Mr Owusu was an organist at the Ghana United Methodist Church in the Bronx. Church members described him as a committed musician and a valued member of the congregation.
His death comes days after a 15-year-old Ghanaian boy was shot dead near Crotona Park in the same borough on 29 October 2026 while on his way to school. Police have been searching for three teenage suspects in that killing.
Ghana's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said the government will work with US authorities to secure justice for the teenager.
