Management of TF Commodities, a cocoa processing company in Tema, has been directed to report to the Cyber Security Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for operating with an expired data protection certificate, the Ghana News Agency (GNA) reports.

GNA said the directive was issued by the CID and the Data Protection Commission (DPC).

Channel One TV similarly reported that TF Commodities, in the Tema Free Zones Enclave, was flagged for non-compliance after it failed to produce a valid data protection certificate during spot checks by the DPC, and that the company had been directed to report to Police Headquarters CID to write a statement.

The reports do not yet say what further enforcement steps, if any, will follow once the company reports. TF Commodities had not issued a public response in the GNA or Channel One posts available to GhanaCrimes at the time of writing.

The referrals sit alongside other DPC enforcement actions this week, including the referral of Nyaho Medical Centre to CID over an expired data protection certificate, which is already published on GhanaCrimes.

Under the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843), organisations processing personal data must keep required registrations valid and meet ongoing duties on how personal information is handled.
