Parliament has passed the Community Service Bill 2026. This new law was approved on Thursday, July 8, 2026.

The bill introduces community service as an option for people found guilty of minor offenses. This means they may not have to go to prison.

Alfred Tuah-Yeboah, who previously served as Deputy Attorney General, spoke positively about the bill. He believes it is a positive development for the country's justice system.

He stated that the bill offers a chance for offenders to contribute to society while serving their sentences.

Mr Tuah-Yeboah made these remarks in Sunyani during an interview with reporters.
