Ghana's Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has put new measures in place at the country's border crossings. This action follows a recent incident involving the interception of articulated trucks.

The Minister visited the Akanu and Aflao border posts. This trip happened after reports of suspected transit diversion schemes.

The Ghana Revenue Authority's customs division intercepted eighteen articulated trucks. The interception took place on February 18, 2026. These trucks were reportedly carrying goods intended for Niger.

The authorities suspect these trucks were part of a scheme to illegally divert goods. The government aims to stop such activities that lead to revenue loss.

The new measures are designed to strengthen controls at the borders. They are meant to improve how transit goods are monitored.

Dr. Ato Forson stated that the government is committed to protecting state revenue. Officials will increase checks to prevent similar incidents in the future.
