Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson made a visit to the Akanu and Aflao border posts. This visit was in response to articulated trucks being intercepted.

On February 18, 2026, the Ghana Revenue Authority's customs division stopped eighteen articulated trucks. These trucks were declared as goods in transit to Niger.

The authorities suspected the trucks were involved in a scheme to divert goods meant for transit. This means the goods were not going to their declared destination.

Following this incident, new measures have been put in place by the Ministry of Finance. These measures aim to strengthen controls at the borders.

The goal is to prevent similar incidents of transit diversion from happening again. This action underscores the government's commitment to securing its borders and ensuring proper trade practices.
