Bernard Antwi Boasiako, known as Chairman Wontumi, has denied five charges including defrauding by false pretence, uttering forged documents, money laundering, and causing financial loss. The charges stem from a GH¢30 million loan allegedly procured fraudulently from the Ghana Export-Import Bank in 2018. According to the prosecution, Wontumi submitted altered documents to secure the loan for a farming project. It is alleged that the proposed farming activities, machinery purchases, and employment did not occur, and the land presented was not secured. The prosecution further claims Wontumi withdrew significant funds from Wontumi Farms Limited for personal use and other business investments. Wontumi denied all charges. The case was adjourned to October 27, 2026, for a case management conference, with the prosecution given 14 days to file disclosures. Wontumi is currently serving a 20-year sentence at Nsawam Maximum Security Prison.
