According to Atinka Online, the Federation of Ghana Medical Students’ Associations (FGMSA) and a group of graduating medical and dental students have initiated legal action against the Medical and Dental Council (MDC). The lawsuit, filed at the High Court’s Human Rights Division in Accra, seeks to stop the implementation of the Common Registration Examination (CRE). The plaintiffs are requesting that the court issue an injunction to prevent the Council from conducting the examination until the legal disputes regarding its introduction are resolved. The Federation stated that this court action was taken after previous attempts to address their concerns with relevant authorities proved unsuccessful. The FGMSA aims to have the issues surrounding the examination addressed through the judicial process before any further implementation occurs. The Federation’s National Executive Council has indicated that it will continue to pursue the case and provide updates to stakeholders through its official channels.
