According to Pulse Ghana, the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced an upcoming nationwide meter audit to detect electricity theft and reduce revenue losses. The exercise will involve inspections of prepaid and postpaid meters, Special Load Tariff installations, and associated wiring across all operational areas. The company stated that the initiative aims to ensure electricity consumption is measured correctly and customers are billed accurately. ECG advised that no individual advance notices or separate appointment letters will be issued for the inspections. Customers are expected to grant access to authorized personnel who present official identification. To verify the identity of staff, customers can dial the USSD code *226#, select the option to verify staff, and enter the worker's six-digit code to confirm their name, region, and district. Alternatively, customers may contact the ECG customer service line at 0302 611 611 for assistance. The official start date for the audit has not yet been announced.
