A private lawyer, Martin Kpebu, thinks bail rules can be too difficult. He spoke about how some requirements prevent people from getting out of custody easily.
Mr Kpebu suggested that bail conditions should be more practical. He said they need to look at each person's situation.
He mentioned Dennis Miracles Aboagye as an example. Mr Kpebu stated that if Mr Aboagye had planned to flee, he would not have returned to Ghana.
This comment came during a discussion on the radio program Dwaso Nsem.
The lawyer emphasised that bail should be set with the actual ability of the accused to meet the conditions in mind.
He believes that focusing on whether a person returns to the country is a better way to judge risk than strict financial or property requirements.
Mr Kpebu said that simply returning to face charges shows intent to cooperate with the legal process.
He called for a review of how bail is granted to ensure fairness.
