According to Yen Ghana, Ghanaian national Samuel Opoku and Ousmane Gassama Diaby have been arrested in the United States in connection with an alleged email fraud scheme. Investigators from the Troup County Sheriff's Office began probing the case in 2025 after a local church reported losing more than US$60,000. Authorities allege the suspects intercepted church communications and redirected funds into accounts they controlled. Following an investigation, detectives traced the funds to both men. Opoku was arrested first, while a warrant was issued for Diaby, who had reportedly spent several months in Ghana. Diaby was apprehended by officers in New Jersey after returning to the country in October 2026. Both men face multiple felony charges, including identity theft, money laundering, theft by taking, and initiating deceptive commercial emails. The Troup County Sheriff's Office stated that the suspects allegedly manipulated email communications to exploit the trust between the church and its partner organizations.
