According to the Ogun State Police Command, eleven Ghanaian nationals were rescued during an intelligence-led operation in Sagamu, Nigeria. The group, consisting of seven men and four women, had reportedly paid GH₵40,000 each to a fellow Ghanaian who promised to facilitate travel to Canada and Spain. Instead of receiving the promised visas, the victims were held against their will at a hideout. The rescue was conducted by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Ogun State Police on 19 October 2026. Following the operation, the victims were provided with care and support. Police investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend others allegedly linked to the network. As of the latest report, no suspects have been confirmed as arrested, and no formal charges have been filed. The Ogun State Police have advised the public to independently verify visa-processing arrangements to avoid falling victim to similar cross-border schemes.
