According to Starr FM, the Court of Appeal in Kumasi has dismissed an application by the Bono Regional NPP Chairman, Kwame Baffoe, also known as Abronye, to halt a defamation suit brought against him and Wontumi Multimedia Company Limited. The three-member panel, presided over by Justice Eric Baah, awarded GH¢10,000 in costs against Abronye following his request for a stay of proceedings. The defamation suit, initiated in April 2025 by lawyer and journalist Samson Lardy Anyenini, concerns statements broadcast on Wontumi TV and Radio. The allegations include claims that Anyenini is corrupt and received money to use his programme to disgrace a Member of Parliament. Anyenini has denied these claims and is seeking damages against Wontumi Multimedia Company Limited, its host Kwaku Kyeremanteng Nkansah, and Abronye. This ruling marks a series of legal setbacks for Abronye, who has yet to file a Statement of Defence. The decision allows the substantive defamation action to proceed before the Kumasi High Court.
