The High Court in Accra has dismissed a lawsuit aimed at stopping the Ayawaso East by-election.

The Democracy Hub group brought the case to court. They claimed that vote buying occurred during the National Democratic Congress parliamentary primaries on February 7, 2026.

The court ruled that the lawsuit was incompetent. This means it was not legally sound or properly presented.

The National Democratic Congress was named as the first defendant in the lawsuit.

The Electoral Commission was also a party to the case, as the body responsible for conducting elections.

By dismissing the suit, the court has cleared the way for the Ayawaso East by-election to proceed as planned.

The Legal Service confirmed the court's decision.
