According to the Minister for the Interior, Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka, the volatile Bawku area has now gone 150 days without any gunfire. He attributed this development to security operations and peacebuilding efforts that have helped contain previous violence. Mr. Muntaka noted that this improvement has allowed for an easing of the curfew in Bawku, now set between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m., a significant reduction from previous restrictions. Residents are also now permitted to ride motorbikes between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., after nearly five years of prohibition. The government is currently assessing the situation to determine if further restrictions can be lifted. The Minister also mentioned a general reduction in curfews nationwide, stating Ghana began 2025 with about 11 curfews and now has only three. He asserted that Ghana is safer today than in 2025, though crime remains a challenge.
