The report states that Ghanaian authorities identified a total of 2,331 human trafficking victims in 2025, including 1,469 foreign nationals and 862 Ghanaians. Among the foreign victims, 896 were Nigerian. Traffickers allegedly recruit Nigerian women and girls to Ghana with false promises of employment, sometimes forcing them into commercial sex to repay inflated debts. The report also identified fraudulent recruitment and forced labour linked to online scam operations. Of the total victims, 1,302 were victims of forced labour, 492 were linked to sex trafficking, and 537 were recorded under unspecified forms of trafficking. Ghanaian authorities identified 567 Ghanaian trafficking victims abroad and funded their return. The US report upgraded Ghana to Tier 1, recognizing the government's efforts in prosecuting suspected traffickers, identifying victims, and improving public awareness. Authorities investigated 222 trafficking cases, prosecuted 212 alleged traffickers, and secured 28 convictions.
