The Nigeria Police Force says it has arrested three suspects over an alleged supply chain that moved explosive materials from Ghana into Nigeria, and recovered about 50 kilogrammes of explosives packed in 10 bags in Badagry, Lagos State, near the Nigeria-Ghana border.

Commander of the police Special Tactical Squad, ACP Victor Ogbeide Godfrey, paraded the suspects on Thursday, 8 October 2026, Blueprint and Crime Fighters report. He said the arrests followed an intelligence-led operation aimed at networks supplying explosives to criminal groups.

According to the police, a 27-year-old suspect was arrested first in Badagry while allegedly transporting the explosives into Nigeria, and the 10 bags were recovered from him. Investigators then traced the chain to a 41-year-old suspect arrested in Lagos, whom police described as the alleged receiver who arranged onward movement to criminal elements in parts of Nigeria's North-East and North-Central regions.

The third suspect, a 29-year-old Nigerian who lives in Ghana, was arrested over his alleged role in importing the explosives from Ghana. Police allege he concealed the explosives as a consignment of flour to avoid detection at the border.

The police said the three had confessed to their alleged roles. None of them has been charged in court yet. The commander said investigations were continuing to establish the full extent of the network and identify others involved, and that the suspects would be prosecuted after investigations end.

None of the reports carried a comment from Ghanaian authorities on the alleged Ghana end of the route.
