Reported cases of financial fraud in Ghana have increased substantially. This includes fraud at banks, special deposit-taking institutions, and payment service providers.

Between 2022 and 2025, the number of reported fraud cases grew from 15,164 to 24,778. This is a rise of 63% over the four year period.

The total amount of money at risk from these frauds also went up. In 2022, the value at risk was GH¢82 million.

By 2025, this figure had climbed to GH¢101 million. This information comes from the Bank of Ghana's 2025 Fraud Report.

The report shows a growing threat of fraud to Ghana's financial system. The Bank of Ghana is working on systems to combat these rising numbers.
