Dutch prosecutors have announced a record €2 million reward for information leading to the arrest of fugitive cocaine trafficker Jos Leijdekkers, whose network is alleged to have links to suspects being held by Ghana's Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC).
According to Chale News, citing GhanaWeb, the bounty was announced on Monday, 2 November 2026, and is the highest reward Dutch authorities have offered for a single fugitive.
NACOC is investigating 3 suspects accused of representing and facilitating Leijdekkers' operations in Ghana. They were picked up after French customs intercepted a major cocaine shipment that investigators believe is connected to the network, known as 'Bolle Jos'.
NACOC said the 3 are in its custody and are assisting investigators as it works to establish their roles and whether Ghana served as a transit point, operational base or connection point.
Leijdekkers, 35, is known in the Netherlands as Bolle Jos and is said by Dutch police to also use the alias Omar Sherrif in Sierra Leone. A Dutch court sentenced him in absentia to 24 years in prison for smuggling more than 7 tonnes of cocaine, and a Belgian court handed him a 79-year sentence, the report said.
NACOC arrested other people linked to the same network in September 2026, Chale News reported.
The 3 suspects in NACOC custody have not been named and no charges against them have been reported. They remain presumed innocent.
