Ghana has repatriated 120 Nigerian nationals arrested during an intelligence-led operation targeting cybercrime activities, according to the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Sam George. The operation, dubbed #OperationCyberhunt, was a collaboration between the Cyber Security Authority (CSA), local security and intelligence agencies, and international partners including the UK, Nigeria, and the FBI. Mr George stated that the 120 Nigerians had been trafficked to Ghana and compelled to work in cybercrime operations. The Ghana Air Force and the Ministry of Defence facilitated their repatriation. During the operation, authorities seized 136 mobile phones, 130 laptops, internet connectivity devices, four vehicles, and other digital equipment. One vehicle was reportedly stolen from Canada, and jewellery along with 10 Nigerian passports were recovered. The minister indicated that eight other individuals were being processed for prosecution, though details of their alleged offences were not provided. The operation aimed to combat cybercrime and prevent Ghana from becoming a hub for criminal networks, according to the minister.
