Ghana recorded 4,938 cyber security incidents and estimated financial losses of GH¢209.7 million between January and September 2026, according to the Cyber Security Authority (CSA).
Daily Guide Network reports that the authority's Director-General, Dr Divine Selase Agbeti, disclosed the figures at the Cyber Secure Volta Regional Conference.
He compared the latest figures with 4,604 incidents and losses exceeding GH¢22.5 million recorded during the whole of 2025.
The director-general said the reported cases did not reflect every incident because some victims of online fraud, blackmail and other digital offences did not report their experiences.
He identified human error and social engineering as important factors behind cybercrime and confirmed that some suspects had already been arrested and prosecuted.
Dr Agbeti also announced plans to establish a CSA office in the Volta Region before the end of 2026.
The figures represent incidents reported to the authority rather than a complete count of cybercrime nationwide.
