The Eastern Regional Chairman of the Ghana National Association of Traditional Healers (GNATH), Nana Sika Ansaba, has asked the government to set up a development fund.
He said the fund is needed to support and promote the herbal medicine industry. This request was made during the association's Annual General Meeting in Koforidua.
Nana Ansaba explained that the fund would help pay for important research. It would also improve the buildings and tools used in herbal medicine.
The goal is to strengthen the traditional medicine sector in Ghana. This would allow it to contribute more to healthcare and the economy.
Developing the industry could also create more jobs. It could make traditional medicine more widely accepted and used.
The association believes government support is key to achieving these goals. Improved funding would ensure quality and safety standards are met.
