A member of Ghana's Defence committee, Rev. Ntim Fordjour, is urging the country to buy offshore patrol vessels. He believes these ships are needed to protect Ghana's waters.

Fordjour's call comes after fishermen were attacked recently. The incident happened near Senya Bereku.

He explained that having these vessels would scare away pirates. It would make Ghana's sea borders safer.

The aim is to strengthen the nation's security at sea. This includes protecting the people who work on the water.

Ghana's maritime resources also need protection from illegal activities.

The official's comments were made during a radio program. He stressed the urgency of the situation.
