Fishermen working along Ghana's coast will soon have new safety measures. The Fisheries Commission plans to introduce an insurance scheme for them.

This comes after fishermen faced armed attacks. The attacks happened in the sea near Senya Bereku.

In addition to insurance, fishermen will receive training from the Navy. This training aims to better prepare them for dangerous situations at sea.

Professor Benjamin Campion, the Executive Director of the Fisheries Commission, shared these plans. He stated that protecting fishermen is a top priority.

The commission believes these steps will improve safety for those who earn their living from fishing.

Details about when the insurance and training programs will start are expected soon.
