Fishermen will soon have access to insurance protection. This is a new step announced by the Fisheries Commission.
The commission will also provide navy training to fishermen. This training aims to equip them with skills for their safety at sea.
These measures follow an armed attack on fishermen. The attack happened off the coast near Senya Bereku.
Professor Benjamin Campion, the Executive Director of the Fisheries Commission, shared these plans.
He stated that these actions are meant to improve the security of fishermen working in Ghanaian waters.
The initiative is part of a broader effort to address safety concerns in the fishing industry.
