A retailer at the Atimpoku Shell Filling Station has told the High Court in Accra that petrol sold to a customer in August 2022 was mixed with water. The admission was made during cross-examination of the company's first defence witness.
The witness is John Delase-Michael. He was testifying in a case filed by a businessman. The businessman claims he bought fuel from the station that was contaminated.
The court heard that the fuel was not pure petrol. It contained water. This happened at the Atimpoku Shell Filling Station. Vivo Energy operates this station.
The incident occurred in August 2022. The sale of the mixed fuel is central to the ongoing court case. The businessman is suing Vivo Energy.
Details of the businessman's claims and the full extent of the alleged contamination were not immediately clear. The court case is continuing.
