A court in Nigeria has scheduled an inquest into the death of a young child. The formal process will begin on April 14.

The child was 21 months old and was the son of well-known Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.

The inquest will take place at the Yaba Magistrate Court in Lagos. This follows a preliminary hearing to set the date.

The child died roughly seven weeks ago. The hospital involved was Euracare.

Adichie and her family have made accusations against Euracare. They claim the hospital was negligent.

The Judicial Service will oversee the proceedings to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.

Further details about the investigation will be presented in court.
