The High Court has dismissed two applications seeking to block the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority DVLA from continuing its contract for 2026 vehicle number plates.

These applications were filed by 26 companies that emboss vehicle number plates. They also filed on behalf of their parent association.

The companies were challenging the DVLA's decision to award a new contract for the creation and distribution of the 2026 plates.

The court's decision means the DVLA can proceed with its plans for the upcoming year's number plates.

The specific reasons for the dismissal were not immediately made public by the Judicial Service.
