A farmer named Mariam Alhassan has filed a lawsuit against the government. She is challenging the rules for growing industrial cannabis.

Alhassan says the fees to get a license are too high. She also believes the rules make it hard for people like her to get permission to grow the crop.

The farmer filed her case with the Supreme Court. This court has the power to review laws and government actions. She wants the court to look at the original rules.

The lawsuit names the Ministry responsible for the regulations as a defendant. Alhassan believes the current system stops many small farmers from participating.

She is from Techiman in the Bono East region. Her legal action began on Friday, February 27.

The Supreme Court will now consider her arguments. This case could affect how industrial cannabis is regulated in Ghana.
