Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin wants the Economic and Organised Crime Office EOCO to look into how some Nkoko Nkitinkiti Programme beneficiaries used the birds they received. He believes some people ate the birds. This was meant to be a government-funded initiative.
Afenyo-Markin stated that the birds were given to people to raise for commercial purposes. He believes these individuals did not follow the plan. The Effutu Member of Parliament asked EOCO to take action.
The programme aimed to help people start businesses by raising birds. It was supported by state funds. The leader of the minority is concerned about the misuse of public resources.
He is urging EOCO to find out if the beneficiaries followed the rules. The goal was to create jobs and boost the economy through bird rearing.
Further details on the scope of the investigation will be announced by EOCO.
