According to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the GRA's preliminary investigation found that the duty assessed on 20 pairs of women's shoes, nine dresses, 18 men's shirts, and four wigs belonging to passenger Gifty Osei Bonsu was GH₵807.68. The GRA stated that the Integrated Customs Management System (ICUMS) was temporarily unavailable, preventing the immediate issuance of a receipt after payment. Bonsu initially deposited GH₵600, with a friend later paying GH₵200, and customs officers covered the GH₵7.68 shortfall. The full amount was later paid into the GRA's revenue account. The GRA apologised for the delay and is reviewing customs procedures, including communication with travellers and transaction documentation. This incident is part of ongoing investigations into alleged extortion at the airport.
