A transport officer from the Northern Regional Health Directorate has been suspended for allegedly selling seven vehicles belonging to the Ministry of Health without proper authorization. The officer reportedly did not disclose the transactions or account for the proceeds. According to officials, three of the vehicles were valued at GH¢13,803, and the officer has since returned four of the seven vehicles. The matter has been reported to the police and is being treated as a criminal case. The issue came to light during a Public Accounts Committee meeting examining the management of state assets. The Director-General of the Ghana Health Service informed the committee that disciplinary proceedings have begun, and the officer's suspension is pending police action. The Ranking Member of the Public Accounts Committee expressed dissatisfaction with the suspension alone, questioning the officer's actions and lack of accountability.
