Three suspected kidnappers have been arrested in Sang, Mion District, Northern Region, following the alleged abduction of a man from Dobini Bunban, a community near Yendi. The suspects, identified as Mahumudu Abdulai, Ganiu Sumaila, and Abdulai Salam, were apprehended on September 29, 2026. They are under investigation for the alleged kidnapping of Ayuba Sumiya Mawudu, who was reportedly attacked at his home on September 25 by four armed individuals. According to the Northern Regional Police Command, the attackers also assaulted the victim's brother before taking Mr. Mawudu to an unknown location and demanding a ransom of GH¢100,000. Mr. Mawudu, however, managed to escape and was later assisted by farmers. The victim subsequently identified the three arrested suspects from photographs. Preliminary investigations suggest potential links between the suspects and other robbery incidents in the area. The suspects are in police custody assisting with investigations, while efforts continue to apprehend other alleged accomplices.
