Two tipper truck drivers are receiving treatment at the Tema General Hospital after they were allegedly assaulted and shot by a group of uniformed men at Afienya in the Greater Accra Region.

The drivers, Annor Apetogbo and Ibrahim Morro, said about 10 men, described as military and police personnel, stormed their operational site and seized their tipper trucks.

According to the drivers, they and some residents questioned the authority behind the operation and insisted the matter be taken to the Afienya Police Station for clarification.

They claim they were told at the station that no such operation had been sanctioned. The situation allegedly escalated, with the men said to have flogged the drivers before opening fire on them during the confrontation.

The Ghana Police Service and the Ghana Armed Forces have not publicly commented on the allegations. No arrests have been reported and the men involved have not been identified.

The account has not been independently verified, and no one has been charged.
